Dr. Joe Tafur is currently developing a medical education program in Traditional Amazonian Plant Medicine. This program strives to bridge the world of academic medicine with traditional healing knowledge. The Office of Ancestral Medicine draws upon our own experiences in traditional Amazonian healing and will explore the relationship between this work and exciting and relevant topics in modern medicine, including: psychoneuroimmunology, functional medicine, epigenetics, and the responsible use of psychedelic medicine in modern psychiatry. Furthermore we will explore the role of Traditional Amazonian Plant Medicine in the larger context of global ancestral medical traditions and public health.
